OUR CERTIFICATES
Over the years, the company has continuously strengthened its position in the Patras market and expanded to the wider market of the Peloponnese and the Ionian Islands, becoming a pioneer in the wood industry. The second milestone in the company's history was in 1983, when the eldest of the brothers, Andreas Vassilopoulos, joined the company, who since 1990 has also taken over the management of the companies, a period during which the company has seen even more rapid growth.
OUR COMPANY
Our company has a long history in the wood industry that dates back to 1950, when the founder, Eleftherios Vassilopoulos, opened the first wood trading store in Patras on Agios Andreou Street in the city center, 500 meters from its port. This store was to be closely linked to the economic and social development of Patras, since himself, from the position of President of the Port Fund and Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for a number of years, was actively involved in the common affairs of the place at a time when the city was initiating the changes that brings it to today, after the decline of the raisin trade and World War II, it was beginning to recover a significant commercial activity, within the context of the changed post-war conditions and was connected to Italy (ferry-boat).
As a result of this development, the need for larger facilities was created and so it was moved to its current location in Lefka, Patras, with 4,500 sq m of storage space. Ten years later, in mid-2000, the largest wood trading company in Greece, XYLEMBORIA ATHENE, participated in the company with a 34% stake, significantly strengthening the position of VASSILOPOULOS, not only in the Peloponnese market but also throughout the country.
The upward trajectory of the Group and the vision of the company's shareholders for the development of its products through production, created the need for an industrial unit based on European standards, and so in 2000 our factory was inaugurated in the Industrial Zone of Patras.
A modern privately owned unit of 5,500 sq.m. on a plot of 20,000 sq.m. with new technologically advanced machinery which opened up new possibilities of -certified- production and significantly expanded our share in the timber market. Since 2003 the group has received the certification of its products according to ISO EN 9001/2000 TUV Austria and in 2013 the CE safety certification of the European Economic Area came, for the first time in a Greek timber processing unit.
The evolution of our company is continuous, and consistent with the principles with which it began in 1950, by Eleftherios Vassilopoulos. Thus, we arrive at 2011 when Kitchen Point was inaugurated, one of our stores, exclusively for the Kitchen, in collaboration with major companies in the field, which is co-located with our central facilities in Lefka, and in 2013, when the Athens store on P. Ralli Street began operating. Our company's goal is to continue, overcoming the economic crisis, for a seventh decade to produce new and innovative products and to continuously create new satisfied customers, quality products and jobs.
