IMPREGNATED WOOD

Wood, as a living organism, undergoes certain changes when exposed to outdoor environments. Such changes are mainly fungal decay and corrosion due to insects. Impregnation comes to provide the solution, ensuring effective protection of the wood from the above risks. Impregnated wood can be used both above ground and in underground applications where conditions are particularly adverse.

Impregnation is carried out using the double vacuum method, where vacuum conditions are initially created in the impregnation chamber in order to remove air pockets from the wood so that in the next stage the pores of the wood can be filled with the impregnation liquid. This specific process is carried out under a pressure of 12 bar so that the impregnation liquid can penetrate deep into the structures of the wood. Finally, the excess liquid is removed under vacuum conditions.

TREATMENT PROCESS

  1. The wood is loaded into the treatment chamber in an absolute vacuum. The wood cells are emptied of air and an absolute vacuum prevails.
  2. The cylinder is filled with the wood preservative.
  3. Hydraulic pressure is applied, forcing the preservative to penetrate the wood structure.
  4. By applying the vacuum, the excess preservative is extracted and returned to the storage area.
  5. The low pressure applied inside the wood raises the material to its surface to evaporate. The treated wood is left to dry.

The color of wood treated slowly turns to a warm honey brown color and over time to a natural silver-gray.

Any wooden surface exposed to cross-cutting with holes, grooves or incisions should be brushed with ENSELE granular preservative to maintain its treatment intact.

As the treated wood is a high-quality product, it is necessary to use metal fasteners that provide a similar lifespan. Under normal conditions, the use of galvanized nails, screws and fasteners is recommended.
